Tutorial: How to obtain and use an API Key for Wordpress

An API Key may be required for some plug-ins. To obtain one you’ll have to register for an account at wordpress.com For those who haven’t gotten one:
1) Go to wordpress.com and click the “sign up now” button in the far right corner.
2) Fill out the information on the next page, including a username and password. If you don’t want to start a new blog choose “just a username, please” at the bottom.
3) You will be sent a link to activate the account through your e-mail. Verify the letter and click on the link to activate.
4) Login to Wordpress.com with your new account’s username and password. Go to the profile and you should see your API key at the top.
5) Copy the API Key.
6) Log back into your blog. When prompted provide your API key from your newly created account.

Boom, there it is, thanks for this. It is a simple, but very useful tutorial. Also, what’s an API key, can you spell that out a bit more? it’s actually very interesting, and dove-tails nicely with the discussion of O’Reilly’s essay what is Web 2.0 we will have read by Tuesday.
PS> Your about page seems to be generic, what is this blog about?

Ha. I literally thought “wasn’t I supposed to something with some anti-spam thing on my page for class?” then I literally saw this that moment. Muchas gracias.
